Oklahoma City started pre-treating its roads on Tuesday, including a salt-brine mixture. When snow started falling Thursday, it had deployed plows to emergency snow routes to clear the most high-impact roads in the metro.

32 Plows

Oklahoma City had a max of 32 plows and drivers in force this week. At midnight on Friday, Oklahoma City will scale it down to 8 drivers focused on as-needed spots. It will reduce that number even further to only a few over the weekend and as conditions continue to improve.

36 to 48 Hours

It takes a couple of days before a storm for the city to accurately pinpoint what kind of response is needed. With more winter weather expected a week from now, Oklahoma City Public Works says it will have a better idea of what it's dealing with about 36 to 48 hours out from when the next system begins.

14,000 Tons

Oklahoma City had 14,000 tons of road salt in its supply before this week's winter system moved in. Crews in recent days have used only 700 tons, leaving plenty of resources left to respond to any other winter threats this season.
